Sokoto: Man Arrested With 101 PVCs Doomed To One Year In Prison

 

 

 The Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC) says one Nasiru Idris who was arrested for being in possession of 101 endless voter cards( PVCs) in Sokoto, has been doomed to one year


in captivity. 


 INEC blazoned this on Sunday in a statement inked by Festus Okoye, its public manager. 

 

 Idris was restrained on October 10 following an intelligence report. 


 “ In the last couple of weeks, the police have arrested some individualities set up to be in illegal possession of namer cards in some countries, ” the commission said. 

 

 “ In one case, the police concluded the disquisition and handed over the case train to the commission performing in the successful execution of one Nasiru Idris at a Magistrate Court in Sokoto who was set up to be in possession 101 PVCs in violation of Sections 117 and 145 of the Electoral Act 2002. He has been doomed to a time in captivity. 


 “ also, the police in Kano state have arrested a man who was set up to be in possession of 367 PVCs. The suspect has been charged to court and the commission is pursuing his execution. ” 

 

 On the collection of PVCs, INEC said it would hold a retreat in Lagos from November 28 to December 2, with all the resident electoral officers( RECs) in the country and would, later, release the dates as well as the detailed procedure for the immediate collection of PVCs nationwide. 


 “ The commission appreciates the tolerance and understanding of Nigerians, especially those who registered as choosers or applied for transfer/ relief of their cards from January to July 2022. In making the cards available for collection, the commission is also working to insure that the process is hitch-free. 

 

 “ The commission wishes to reiterate that it'll continue to pursue all violators of the Electoral Act and insure they ’re active execution. ”

Assassination Attempt: Police can’t deny what’s on their desk, says Amotekun boss
