Effurun Shooting: IGP Orders Dismissal, Prosecution of Officer

  In what appears to be a firm stance against police misconduct, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the dismissal and prosecution of a police officer involved in the fatal shooting of a civilian in Effurun, Delta State. The incident, which occurred on April 26, 2026, led to the tragic death of a young man identified as Mene Ogidi, sparking outrage and renewed concerns over the conduct of security operatives in Nigeria. Preliminary findings revealed that the officer, ASP Nuhu Usman, breached established rules governing the use of firearms, particularly provisions under Force Order 237, guidelines designed to regulate the use of lethal force by police personnel. Driver Chop Off Vehicle Inspection Officer’s Ear Over Car Particular

  A yet-to-identified Sienna car driver has reportedly bitten the ear of a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) identified as Papu Prosper. The incident occurred during a heated argument between the officer and the driver along Eagle Roundabout by Federal Government College, Warri, Delta State.
