Political Pedestrian on a Path to Oblivion: The Futility of Pelumi Olajengbesi’s Ambitions - Wole Oke's Constituency Office

𝟵𝗧𝗛 𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱.

At the hallowed Constituency office of Hon. Wole Oke, we behold Pelumi Olajengbesi massaging his fragile ego with all the subtlety of a gaudy peacock strutting amid a flock of unimpressed hens. His juvenile bravado, parading as political ambition, boasts of having “pursued” Hon. Wole Oke from the PDP, flaunting a readiness to clash at the polls that is as laughable as it is delusional.

To you, Pelumi, we offer this

unvarnished truth: you are but a political pedestrian, a wandering mistrel,taking a walk down a path paved for inevitable extinction,soon to be forsaken by the very shoulders upon which you fancifully perched your inordinate aspirations at Ede FC. The political orphanage eagerly awaits your exuberant debut. One might have hoped that your previous dismal performance would have steered you toward wisdom rather than this tragic descent into political folly. Alas, what your ego failed to teach, your serial defeats will surely imprint upon your consciousness.

You have amassed a veritable treasure trove of folly to wrestle with on your inexorable march toward political oblivion. Before you can even dream of challenging Hon. Wole Oke, you must first contend with the formidable teams of Babalola and Dr. Wale Bolorunduro before the merchants of your own party cast you aside as mere street debris.

In a season where Nigeria desperately needs thoughtful dialogue and constructive politics, it is unfortunate to watch a supposedly learned man like Pelumi Olajengbesi descend into the pit of cheap name-calling, character assassination, and poorly veiled envy. We remain unmoved by your status as a serial petition writer and purveyor of smear campaigns against honourable individuals, as if such antics could ever elevate you to the heights you so covet. Your political journey will be remembered by future historians as a snake slithering futilely on a mountain: an inconsequential and ignoble passage. We urge you to take your calling seriously; politics is no playground for political juveniles.

His recent diatribe titled “Wole Oke Is a Political Irritant Living Off Public Funds” is not just a disgrace to the tradition of civil political discourse; it reeks of juvenile desperation from someone who clearly has not mastered the art of statesmanship.

What Pelumi fails to understand is that longevity in service is not a crime. Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke has served not just because of party tickets, but because the people, yes, the people, have continued to trust him with their mandate. That is called democracy. Perhaps Pelumi’s outburst is the frustration of one who has never earned the legitimacy of a grassroots mandate and resorts instead to keyboard outrage to feel politically relevant. Student activism is a distant echo compared to the intricate dance of real politics, which demands native intelligence and seasoned wisdom. It is a pole apart from the real politics! Get yourself an adept leader!

What exactly is Pelumi's record in public service? What has he built beyond rehearsed indignation and a handful of press statements? If he wants to challenge Hon. Wole Oke, let him go to the field and test his acceptance among the people, not behind a desk issuing invectives. 

One would expect you to study the man you so despise, to understand the qualities that endear him to the vast populace of Ijesa North, and to patiently cultivate your own support rather than succumb to reckless youthful exuberance!

If Pelumi desires to learn how to build influence without the clamour, to lead without vanity, and to remain relevant without groping helplessly like a confused pilgrim, he would do well to observe Wole Oke with a discerning eye. There is a method to consistency, a discipline to longevity.

It is laughable to accuse Hon. Wole Oke of being power-hungry, yet he has never held an executive post nor arrogated unconstitutional power to himself. He has remained a legislator, a representative of the people whose service record spans decades of strategic interventions in education, agriculture, infrastructure, and youth development across Obokun/Oriade and beyond.

It is quite ironic that someone whose professional calling is rooted in law and human rights would hurl insults with such venom and little regard for civility. One would expect better. But perhaps this is not a surprise from someone who confuses publicity with popularity and polemics with principle.

Wole Oke's recent defection is not a betrayal of ideology but a necessary response to the betrayal of loyalty within his former political fold. To interpret that as "hunger for power" is a juvenile simplification of how politics actually works. 

What Oke perceives while seated at the table is invisible to the toddler Pelumi, no matter how high he climbs—be it the summit of Kilimanjaro or the pinnacle of his own inflated ego. Soon enough, you will understand when your ilk is cast aside like refuse on the next stop of your leaders’ itinerant journey.

We are not the one leaking your pockets and Oke is certainly not the reason for your humiliating failure in your last Oriade State Constituency outing.

Pelumi’s current confrontational style risks isolating him politically, damaging his reputation, and limiting his ability to build the broad-based support necessary for future success especially when his supposed leaders finally take abode in APC : the final harbour of safety for their desperate re-election.

Pelumi is advised to calm down! Take a deep breath and temper your tantrums. Politics demands maturity, patience, and above all, respect for the leadership, electorate and the dignity of public service. Your current path is a spectacle of folly, a tragic comedy that serves only to highlight your political immaturity. The time has come to abandon your juvenile theatrics and embrace the hard work and humility that true leadership requires.
