Wole Oke's Towering Legacy: A Response to Political Pawns and Fair-weather Loyals in Obokun/Oriade

 

In the wake of an orchestrated press release issued by self-styled PDP “leaders” in Obokun and Oriade, it has become necessary to set the record straight. These are individuals clinging to political relevance by attacking the same man whose footprints remain indelible in Ijesa North, Rt. Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke.

Let the facts speak louder than coordinated sycophancy: Wole Oke is not a political tenant. He is a foundational force in the democratic growth of Osun East, a leader who has served the people faithfully since 2003, with a legislative track record that dwarfs that of his accusers.

The so-called “PDP stakeholders” now speaking in loud whispers were nowhere near the corridors of influence until Wole Oke opened the gates. The same Bayo who now postures as a voice was once a struggling roadside vendor near Wole Oke’s property. The same Mayowa, once a classroom teacher on PTA salary, rode on the goodwill of a structure they now seek to dismantle with falsehoods.

Their loyalty is not to the PDP, but to their personal sustenance, scrambling for crumbs beneath a dining table they did not help build.

Let it be clear: Wole Oke’s criticisms of Governor Adeleke are issue-based, driven by the need to defend the neglected people of Obokun/Oriade, not personal vendettas. No attempt has been made to insult the Governor personally, only his style of governance, which has consistently sidelined one of the most politically active zones in Osun.

To accuse Wole Oke of betrayal after nearly two decades of unbroken service under PDP is to insult the intelligence of the electorate. The real betrayal is governance that ignores constituencies that brought victory, and political machineries that suppress loyal party men while rewarding untested family loyalists.

The people of Obokun and Oriade know their true leader. The attempts by these overnight defenders of Governor Adeleke to rewrite history will fall flat before the mountain of Wole Oke’s legacy.

This is not about political theatrics. This is about truth, sacrifice, and the right of a people to speak against oppression.

No one has a monopoly on loyalty,  and no one can claim ownership of a man built by the people.

Honourable Wole Oke reminded the public that he never attacked Governor Adeleke personally, but simply called out an administration that has systematically sidelined the Obokun/Oriade axis. “Should I fold my arms and celebrate a Governor who hates me and my constituency?” he asked, framing his stance as one of principled resistance, not bitterness.

He also took aim at Eniola, described her as persona non grata in Obokun/Oriade politics. “I brought her into politics. She is married into my maternal family. Her loyalty today is to Aunt Dupe Adeleke, not the people,” Oke said, accusing her of political sycophancy in exchange for survival.

The former lawmaker reaffirmed that his defection from PDP was not a betrayal, but a reaction to internal divisions, targeted suppression, and a total lack of regard for democratic fairness within the party under the Adeleke-led structure.

“To label me as disloyal is a joke,” he stated. “The same people speaking today were nowhere when I contested elections in 1999 and 2003. Now they want to rewrite history?”
