Rep. Oluwole Oke Salutes Educators: “Teachers Are My First Constituency”

As the world celebrates World Teachers’ Day 2025, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and Member of the House of Representatives representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, has paid glowing tribute to Nigerian teachers, describing them as “the true builders of our nation’s future.”

In a heartfelt message released from Osogbo, Oke,

himself a trained teacher reflected on the enduring role of educators in shaping society and reaffirmed his commitment to policies that uplift the teaching profession.

 “I join millions of Nigerians and the global community in celebrating our teachers, the true builders of our nation’s future and custodians of knowledge, discipline, and values,” Oke said.

He emphasized that teachers remain the foundation upon which every great society is built, acknowledging their patience, resilience, and unwavering commitment even in the face of daunting challenges.

 “They are my first constituency!” he declared. “Their selflessness and dedication to nurturing young minds remain a shining example of service to humanity.”

The lawmaker lauded President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its renewed focus on education, describing the ongoing reforms in teacher welfare, training, and digital capacity as “commendable steps toward empowering those who stand at the heart of national development.”

Oke urged that these efforts be sustained and strengthened, stressing that “no meaningful transformation can occur without motivated and well-equipped teachers.”

 “The ongoing initiatives to enhance teacher development, remuneration, and infrastructure deserve our collective support,” he added. “Our teachers must receive the recognition, dignity, and reward they truly deserve right here on earth.”

Reaffirming his legislative commitment, the Osun-born lawmaker promised to continue backing education-friendly policies that promote equitable learning environments. He also called on state governments, local authorities, and private stakeholders to invest more in teacher welfare, capacity building, and conducive teaching conditions.

Oke’s message culminated in an emotional tribute to teachers across Osun State and Nigeria:

 “You are the unsung heroes of our nation’s progress, the torchbearers who illuminate the path to a brighter tomorrow. Do not lose faith in your noble calling. The seeds you sow daily will continue to yield fruits in the generations you nurture.”

Concluding his statement, he extended appreciation on behalf of his constituency and the National Assembly:

 “On behalf of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the good people of Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, I extend a heartfelt thank you for your tireless service to our nation.”
