Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to meet again with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest in the coming weeks, in what he described as part of ongoing efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

Trump disclosed the planned meeting after holding a phone conversation with Putin that reportedly lasted more than two hours. The Kremlin has since confirmed that both leaders discussed convening a new round of talks, barely two months after their previous meeting in Alaska.

Today, Trump is also expected to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. The meeting is anticipated to focus on Ukraine’s urgent request for more U.S. military assistance.

In recent weeks, Trump had signaled support for the sale of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv. However, following his lengthy discussion with Putin, he appeared more cautious, hinting that he may reconsider additional arms support if Moscow shows genuine interest in negotiating a diplomatic end to the conflict.

The proposed Budapest meeting, if confirmed, could mark a significant moment in the evolving geopolitical landscape surrounding the Ukraine crisis, with Trump positioning himself as a possible broker of peace between the warring nations.
