Osun: Wole Oke Alleges Youth Exploitation, Questions Government’s Employment Programmes

 A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Wole Oke, has accused the Osun State Government of allegedly exploiting innocent youths and failing to fulfill promised employment opportunities.

In a strongly worded statement shared on his social media timeline, the lawmaker claimed that young people were made to pay money under the guise of job placement, yet were allegedly denied employment after fulfilling the requirements.

Hon. Oke further alleged that some young women were subjected to exploitation during the process, describing the situation as deeply troubling and unacceptable. He lamented that despite the sacrifices made by the youths, many were left without jobs or meaningful engagement.

According to him, the situation has worsened over time, as affected youths are allegedly being approached again under similar arrangements. He described the development as a repeated cycle of exploitation and urged those involved to put an end to what he termed a growing injustice against young people.

The federal lawmaker also referenced previous employment exercises carried out under the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, claiming that some individuals earlier engaged were later disengaged.

Calling for justice, Hon. Oke appealed to moral and institutional responsibility, stressing that the welfare of youths should not be politicized or exploited for personal or political gain.

As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Government has not issued an official response to the allegations. Efforts to obtain a reaction from relevant government officials were ongoing.
