Accord Declares August 8 ‘Victory Date’ as INEC Lists Adeleke for Osun Governorship Race

The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has expressed strong satisfaction over the official publication by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) naming Governor Ademola Adeleke as the party’s candidate for the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

In a statement issued on Monday, the State Chairman of the party described INEC’s affirmation as “both procedural and historic,” noting that the development represents a significant milestone for the Accord and its supporters across the state.

The party stated that presenting Adeleke to the electorate reflects what it termed “the confidence of the people in a widely embraced leadership,” adding that the moment signals a transition from “recycled excuses of failure” to what it called “measurable and accelerated development.”

According to the statement, INEC’s publication, in line with provisions of the Electoral Act and the approved election timetable, formally marks the beginning of intense political engagement and grassroots mobilisation across the state.

The Accord leadership urged residents and stakeholders to remain united, vigilant, and focused, warning against potential distractions capable of undermining the collective will of voters ahead of the polls.

Describing August 8, 2026 as “a victory date in waiting,” the party emphasized the need for sustained unity and strategic mobilisation, insisting that the developmental trajectory attributed to Governor Adeleke must be preserved through continuity at the ballot.
