The statement, listed ten points highlighting what it described as the implications of the ongoing local government (LG) crisis on the APC’s standing among grassroots voters.
According to the statement:
1. It alleged that many residents at the grassroots level blame the APC for what was described as misrepresentation of court judgments relating to local government leadership disputes in 2022 and 2024.
2. The statement further raised concerns over the management of local government funds, alleging irregularities involving the APC and United Bank for Africa (UBA), particularly regarding the custody and administration of such funds.
3. It also claimed that some members of the public believe the crisis is linked to efforts to hinder the state government’s infrastructure initiatives across the state.
4. The statement criticised the actions of certain local government officials referred to as “Yes/No chairmen” ,alleging issues around remuneration and the prioritisation of allowances amid reported challenges faced by workers.
5. It further suggested that questions have been raised over the tenure of some local government officials, with claims that their continued stay in office has generated public concern.
6. The imposition of levies in markets and parks by the officials was also highlighted as a source of dissatisfaction among some residents.
7. The statement claimed that attempts to extend tenure by some officials have contributed to negative perceptions among sections of the electorate.
8. It also alleged that the ongoing situation has affected local government administration and service delivery at the grassroots level.
9. Concerns were raised over reported expenditures on rural road projects, with questions about cost, quality, and execution.
10. Finally, the statement referenced reports regarding the proposed use of local government funds for the procurement of vehicles for security agencies, raising concerns about financial procedures and accountability.
While these claims reflect the position of the Adeleke administration’s media camp as shared via ALGON Media, the All Progressives Congress has yet to issue an official response as of the time of filing this report.
