The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Wole Oke, has dismissed what he described as social media-driven political attacks against the ruling party, insisting that many of those criticizing the APC online will ultimately vote for the party during the next election.
Speaking during a media chat with the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Oke said electoral success is built on strategic planning, grassroots engagement, and tangible development projects, not online rhetoric.
"Those making noise on social media will end up voting for us," Oke declared. "Election planning is a course of study on its own. It is a project. I like to be taken for granted and underrated because politics is not won on social media."
According to the federal lawmaker, opposition parties have already recognized the strength of the APC's grassroots structure, particularly in Obokun and Oriade federal constituency.
"The leadership of the Accord Party has given up on Obokun/Oriade. What they are trying to do now is see how they can reduce the margin," he said.
Highlighting developmental efforts within the constituency, Oke pointed to various welfare and infrastructure initiatives that he said continue to improve the lives of residents.
"In Obokun Local Government, we have no fewer than 1,500 citizens who receive financial support every month. Beneficiaries go home with not less than fifty thousand naira monthly. The local government is fixing roads, providing water projects, installing transformers, and putting solar streetlights in place," he stated.
He further argued that ongoing federal government intervention programmes and the caliber of political leaders representing the constituency place the APC in a strong electoral position.
"At the federal level, there are numerous programmes benefiting the people. How would such a party lose an election?" he asked.
Oke also referenced prominent political figures from the constituency, including former Head of Service and current Federal Commissioner at the Federal Civil Service Commission, Dr. Festus Oyebade, as well as Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, saying their influence and contributions further strengthen the APC's chances.
"You have respected leaders and experienced public servants from this constituency. Do you think someone will simply shout on Facebook, X, or Instagram and win an election?" he queried.
The APC chieftain maintained that sustained grassroots engagement and performance would outweigh online campaigns aimed at discrediting political leaders.
"We are doing our homework. At the end of the day, everyone will see that blackmailing leaders on social media does not win elections," Oke concluded.
