.....Dr. Yemisi Kolawole Oladeji says the initiative will deepen diaspora participation in Osun's development
The Osun State Diaspora Community has unveiled the purpose and objectives of its 2026 Diaspora Homecoming and Engagement Summit, describing the initiative as a strategic platform to reconnect Osun indigenes across the world with the state's developmental agenda.
Dr. Yemisi Kolawole Oladeji, General Coordinator, Europe and Chief Executive Officer of Plano Technology, USA, disclosed this in a statement made available to Oriontimes, noting that the summit will further strengthen the bond between the Osun State Government and its citizens abroad while encouraging greater diaspora participation in the state's development.
According to Dr. Oladeji, the annual homecoming is designed to strengthen unity among Osun sons and daughters both at home and in the Diaspora while providing an opportunity to assess the progress of governance in the state.
He explained that the four-day summit, scheduled for August 2026, will bring together Osun indigenes from across the globe to inspect key developmental projects executed by the administration of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and engage directly with the governor on the state's achievements and future direction.
Dr. Oladeji further stated that a major highlight of the summit will be advocacy for Diaspora Voting Rights, with the delegation expected to engage the Osun State House of Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Wale Egbedun, to seek legislative intervention that will enable Nigerians living abroad to exercise their constitutional right to vote without having to travel to Nigeria.
He added that the initiative reflects the community's commitment to promoting inclusive governance by ensuring that Osun indigenes in the Diaspora have a voice in shaping the future of their homeland.
According to the statement, the 2026 Homecoming Summit is expected to foster collaboration, attract investment opportunities, promote cultural heritage, and reinforce the shared vision of unity and sustainable progress for Osun State.
