The Next Level Progressive Movement (NLPM), Osun State Chapter, has described the distribution of cocoa seedlings to farmers in Obokun Local Government Area as the beginning of a broader agricultural revival aimed at restoring prosperity across Osun State.

The programme, held on Friday at the APC Secretariat, Abe Igi Aanu, Otan-Ile, was organised in support of the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO-ATIDE) 2026 governorship project and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) 2027.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Gboyega Oyebade, Commissioner at the Federal Civil Service Commission, described the initiative as more than a political gathering, saying it represents a practical step toward economic transformation through agriculture.

According to him, the distribution of cocoa seedlings signifies a new orientation and a commitment to prosperity, noting that the vision of the APC governorship candidate is centred on improving the lives of the people through sustainable development.

"This programme is very significant. Distributing cocoa seedlings to our farmers is a signpost of development and a new orientation. The logo of our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), represents prosperity in all its forms," he said.

Dr. Oyebade explained that agriculture would serve as the foundation upon which the incoming administration intends to build broader development, adding that investments would also extend to education, economic growth, youth empowerment and critical infrastructure.

"We are starting from agriculture, then education, the economy, empowerment and infrastructure development. This is development in practice," he stated.

The Federal Civil Service Commission commissioner further described the initiative as "a new dawn" for all local governments in Osun State, expressing confidence that an AMBO-led administration would place agriculture at the centre of its development agenda.

He noted that the APC governorship candidate is a commercial farmer who understands the economic value of agriculture and would champion policies that encourage cocoa replanting and increased agricultural productivity across the state.

"The governor that is coming is a commercial farmer. We are renewing the hope of our people through agriculture and encouraging every local government to embrace cocoa replanting in every nook and cranny of Osun State," he added.

Reflecting on his personal experience, Dr. Oyebade recalled how cocoa farming transformed his family's fortunes, saying proceeds from his father's cocoa plantation financed the education of seven children.

"My father sponsored about seven of us through school with the money he realised from cocoa plantations. That is why I understand the importance of investing in agriculture," he said.

He assured farmers and party supporters that the policies of the proposed administration would sustain initiatives aimed at rejuvenating agricultural production and creating lasting economic opportunities for rural communities.

The cocoa seedlings distribution attracted APC leaders, government officials, women groups, farmers and party supporters, reinforcing the party's message of grassroots engagement through agricultural development ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.
