IBADAN — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Youth Leader in Lagelu Local Government, Fatokun Alex Oludayo, has called for the election of Hon. Naheem Oladimeji Olaore as the party’s candidate for Lagelu State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Oludayo said the people of Lagelu were yearning for a new approach to representation, which he described as “ITURA LAGELU” Total Relief, Total Liberation and Total Development.
According to him, the demand for effective representation cuts across communities and wards in the local government, with residents seeking a representative who would remain accessible and responsive to their concerns beyond the election period.
He argued that Lagelu’s challenges extend from poor access roads and rural infrastructure to electricity, education, agriculture and the welfare of communities affected by development projects.
Farm Roads and Rural Communities
Oludayo identified abandoned farm roads as one of the major challenges confronting farmers in Lagelu, saying poor connectivity between farms and markets had made agricultural activities more difficult for residents.
He also cited communities including Alape, Olosunde, Oyedeji, Igbo-Elerin, Ogidi and Ogunbode, which he said require greater government attention in areas such as electricity, schools and road infrastructure.
The ADC youth leader maintained that Olaore, being familiar with the communities, would be better positioned to articulate their concerns at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Concerns Over Circular Road Corridor
Oludayo also drew attention to residents allegedly affected by the Circular Road project and the designated corridor, particularly those whose properties and livelihoods he said had been affected.
He called for adequate engagement, compensation where applicable and protection of the interests of affected residents, arguing that the constituency would require a representative capable of advocating for them at the legislative level.
Electricity and Community Development
The ADC youth leader further highlighted electricity challenges in parts of Lalupon, Ejioku and Ilegbon, saying some communities continue to struggle with inadequate power infrastructure.
He said Olaore would prioritise rural electrification, community development and other interventions aimed at improving living conditions across the constituency.
Oludayo similarly mentioned Lagun, Apatere and Papa among communities he believes deserve greater government presence, while also calling for the completion of abandoned or unfinished roads in areas including Kute, Jenriyin, Akobo, Monatan and Olounda.
Beyond Infrastructure
According to Oludayo, the proposed representation should also focus on youth employment and empowerment, support for women and market traders, and improved opportunities for farmers, students and artisans.
He described Olaore as a “youth-friendly,” accessible and homegrown candidate capable of representing the interests of the constituency.
“Lagelu does not just need another honourable; the people need relief from neglect, hardship and years of empty promises,” Oludayo said.
He added that the ITURA LAGELU campaign represents the vision he believes Olaore would pursue if elected.
“The answer is Hon. Naheem Oladimeji Olaore. The party is ADC, African Democratic Congress. The time is now,” he declared.
