Legal immigration into Britain climbed to a record 745,000 arrivals in 2022, despite the governing Conservative Party’s vow to curb that number.  The figures were a fresh setback for the prime minister, Rishi Sunak, as he struggles to stop asylum seekers arriving in small boats on the British coast while trying to revive the economy and deal with dismal polling numbers. Osun Chief Judge Suspended

 Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun, has suspended Adepele Ojo from office as chief judge of the state. In a statement on Thursday, Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the governor, read, "T he Executive Governor of Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved the resolution of the Osun State House of Assembly asking the Osun State Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo to step aside pending investigation of allegations of misconduct, abuse of power, corruption and disregard for rule of law against her by the House of Assembly. In the resolution of the Osun Assembly sitting today 16th November, 2023, the House resolved that the Executive should be informed of the House resolution and that the next in order of seniority to Justice Adepele Ojo be sworn-in immediately to avoid any vacuum in the third arm of government in Osun State.   Britain’s Supreme Court ruled unanimously that a policy to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda is unlawful, dealing a blow to the Conservative government, which has long described the plan as central to its pledge to stop illegal migration across the English Channel. The ruling is the latest setback for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at a time of intense political turmoil in his party, which has held power for 13 years and is lagging in the polls.
