The Operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps have arrested a young man, Oyelade Lukman, 27 years for having illegal firearms in his possession in Ajijola Anabi Area, Ede, Osun State.   The pound has hit its highest level since April last year as the Bank of England looks poised to raise interest rates higher than the US Federal Reserve and further past the European Central Bank. Sterling has gained more than 2pc since Monday, the biggest weekly increase since early December, and is the best performing currency among major economies this year. It comes as the Federal Reserve paused its series of interest rate rises for the first time in 15 months on Wednesday at a range of 5pc to 5.25pc. The ECB raised its rates to 3.5pc - the highest level since 2001 - on Thursday and President Christine Lagarde said a rise in July was also “very likely”.   Operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps on Sunday midnight arrested a young man, Taiwo Ogunsola, 29 years for cultism activities in the Olomilagbala area, Ilesa, Osun State.   Ahead of his scheduled court appearance today, Donald Trump and his advisers to gather a legal team have scrambled after he was charged last week with mishandling classified documents and obstructing the government’s efforts to retrieve them. To fight the charges, his lawyers may assert that the former president had a right to take the documents from the White House and that he had previously declassified them.  They could also accuse the prosecutors of misconduct, try to show that he was a victim of selective prosecution, or seek to have potentially damning evidence excluded from the trial.   A British girl who was one four young children stabbed at a playground in France was on holiday with her family, authorities have confirmed.  The child has been taken to a hospital in Grenoble where she is in a critical condition following the attack in Annecy on Thursday morning.  In the last hour, a prosecutor has confirmed a Dutch child and two from France were also targeted by the knife-wielding suspect, who was arrested. The children are aged between 22 months and three and all suffered life-threatening injuries. South African student, Sibongile Mani, who mistakenly received $954,000 (R14 million) was sentenced to 5 years in prison for theft. She spent $55,816 out of the money on cigarettes, toys, alcohol and bedding. It was sent to her by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. She appealed the 5-year sentence. Her lawyer pleaded for the sentence to be suspended.   The Hong Kong government said on Tuesday that it asked a court to ban a protest song in a bid to prevent people from inciting secession or insulting China's national anthem. "Recently, the song has also been mistakenly presented as the 'national anthem of Hong Kong' repeatedly," the government said in a statement. "This has not only insulted the national anthem but also caused serious damage to the country and the HKSAR." According to a writ seen by Reuters, the Department of Justice seeks make it illegal to perform or disseminate the song or its melody, including online.
