Trump, Putin Hold Sixth Call This Year, Discuss Ukraine, Iran

Former U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone for nearly an hour in what marks their sixth known conversation since January.

According to Trump, the discussion yielded “no progress” toward ending the ongoing war in Ukraine. The Kremlin, in its official readout, said President Putin reiterated Russia’s determination to pursue its objectives in Ukraine and address what it called the “root causes” of the conflict.

Both sides confirmed that the leaders also exchanged views on Iran and other global issues, though no concrete outcomes were reported from the call.
