In Nigeria’s political landscape, cross-carpeting, especially by sitting governors is not new. History is filled with instances where incumbent governors, often frustrated with internal party politics or seeking greater influence, switch allegiance to other parties, and are warmly received. In fact, it is often considered a political win for the party that receives them. But what we witnessed in Osun State in the case of the incumbent Governor was unprecedented.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, the incumbent governor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which currently holds power in the state, recently attempted to defect to the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). In an unprecedented move, members of the APC unanimously rejected his overtures, citing his glaring failure in governance as the reason. This is not only unusual, it is historic.
Never before have we seen a sitting governor from a ruling party face such overwhelming rejection when attempting to defect to the opposition. Ordinarily, opposition parties would jump at the opportunity to strengthen their ranks with the influence and leverage an incumbent brings. But in Adeleke’s case, APC made its position unmistakably clear: “No, thank you.” This was not politics as usual, it was a loud, unequivocal statement. This development is not just a political decision; it is a vote of no confidence in the Governor’s leadership. While citizens cry out for quality healthcare, functional education, improved infrastructure, and real economic opportunities, the Governor is frequently seen dancing in public and embarking on wasteful trips abroad in search of imaginary investors. No genuine investor will stake hard-earned capital in an environment that projects nothing but frivolity and unseriousness.
Governance is not entertainment. The state needs a focused, deliberate, and competent leader—not a social media personality in government robes. The rejection from opposition parties only highlights the widespread discontent that has been growing quietly but surely across Osun.
The Osun People Deserve Better
The good people of Osun State deserve a governor who understands the weight and responsibility of leadership, not one who trivializes it with distractions and showmanship. Osun is not a theatre, and governance is not a stage play. This moment in our history demands seriousness, vision, and results.
We need a leader who values substance over style, who prioritizes action over antics, and who chooses progress over popularity stunts. Sadly, the current administration has failed to meet these basic expectations of leadership. Even across party lines, political actors and the general public can no longer pretend otherwise. The dissatisfaction and the wastages are no longer silent or tolerable.
It is, therefore, no surprise that the gubernatorial ambition of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) is gaining unprecedented acceptance and momentum among the people. In every community, on every street, in markets and in town halls, the name AMBO is being spoken with hope and trust.
Why? Because AMBO represents the credible alternative.
A tested technocrat.
A man of quiet excellence.
A leader known not for gimmicks, but for competence, integrity, and performance.
Where the current leadership has governed with emotions and entertainment, AMBO offers experience and execution. Where we have seen waste and confusion, AMBO brings clarity and character. He is not coming to learn on the job, he is coming to lead Osun forward with the discipline and direction she desperately needs.
The overwhelming support AMBO continues to receive from citizens across the state is not orchestrated, it is organic. It is born from years of trust, relationships built on service, and a reputation of getting things done.
Osun stands at a crossroads. The people have seen what mismanagement looks like and they are ready to embrace a new model of leadership. In Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, they see a man prepared, principled, and positioned to deliver real transformation.

This moment should serve as a wake-up call to all well-meaning citizens of Osun. If opposition parties can reject a sitting governor due to poor performance, then the electorate must be even more intentional in who they elect next.
It is time to shift away from dancing and drama. It is time to reject mediocrity in all its forms. Osun State needs a governor who is serious, strategic, and service-driven. A leader like Bola Oyebamiji, who represents a clear break from the chaos of the present and a step toward the order of progress.
