Drama as Osun Gov’s Aide Removed Over Iwo–Osogbo Road

 


Special Adviser booted from govt WhatsApp group after lamenting deplorable condition of 55km road flagged off by Oyetola in 2022


Tension is mounting in Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration following the sudden removal of his Special Adviser on Community and Social Development Projects, Alhaji Nurudeen Emiloju, from an official government WhatsApp group.


Emiloju, a native of Iwo, had lamented the deplorable state of the Iwo–Osogbo road on the platform, only for his comment to be deleted by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, before he was himself kicked out of the group.


The incident has stirred outrage, with many questioning whether Adeleke’s aides are free to speak their minds on issues affecting the people.


The Iwo–Osogbo road, stretching about 55 kilometres, was flagged off for reconstruction by former governor Gboyega Oyetola on October 27, 2022. Since the change of government, however, residents say the project has been abandoned, leaving commuters stranded and businesses disrupted.


“Emiloju only voiced the frustration of Iwo people who use that road daily,” one source told Fresh Facts. “Silencing him sends the wrong signal that the government cannot tolerate criticism from within.”


The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) seized on the controversy, accusing Adeleke’s government of misleading the public with what it described as “audio projects” that exist only in media reports.


Repeated efforts to get Rasheed’s reaction were unsuccessful as calls to his line went unanswered at the time of filing this report.


Political observers say the incident may be a fresh sign of cracks within Adeleke’s camp, as insiders grow restless over unmet promises and abandoned projects.

Driver Chop Off Vehicle Inspection Officer’s Ear Over Car Particular

  A yet-to-identified Sienna car driver has reportedly bitten the ear of a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) identified as Papu Prosper. The incident occurred during a heated argument between the officer and the driver along Eagle Roundabout by Federal Government College, Warri, Delta State.
