OSOGBO – Governor Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday officially flagged off his re-election campaign ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, declaring that the Accord Party would remain on the ballot and expressing confidence that he would secure a second term in office. Mentorship Program: Bello Wumi, Ajayi Bukola Inspire Alumni on Self-Education and Civic Responsibility
The second edition of the Friday Mentorship Program, championed by the Imesi-Ile High School Alumni Set of 2006, featured Mrs. Bello Wumi and Mrs. Ajayi Bukola in a thought-provoking virtual lecture series. The event, held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 8:00 PM, was themed around two critical topics: “How to Keep Learning Without a Classroom” and “The Responsibility of Alumni in Building a Vibrant Society.”
In her session, alumni treasurer Mrs. Bello Wumi emphasized the boundless opportunities self-education now provides in an era where technology has blurred the lines of traditional learning. She stressed that vocational skills and online resources have become essential pathways for students seeking knowledge beyond classroom walls. According to her, “learning outside the classroom amplifies the voices of those who often feel marginalized, giving them room to grow and compete globally.”
Drawing from her background as a former athlete of the school, Mrs. Bello highlighted how self-driven learning enables students to stay relevant in an ever-changing society. She added that many learners today push themselves beyond what their teachers provide, seeking personal development in diverse fields.
The second lecture, led by Mrs. Ajayi Bukola, erstwhile Senior Prefect and current Vice President of the Alumni body, explored the vital role of alumni in shaping a vibrant and progressive society. She underscored that the collective responsibility of alumni goes beyond nostalgia, extending to building systems, supporting the younger generation, and giving back to the community that nurtured them.
The interactive session also featured contributions from outstanding professionals such as Engr. Charles Jide, Mr. Ogunlade Segun, and Pastor Tioluwani Joseph, who further highlighted the transformative power of autodidacticism-learning driven by personal initiative.
Speaking on the achievements of the alumni body, Comrade Abioye Tosin Lawrence affirmed that the forum is on the verge of birthing a better system for the school and the community. “The spirit of this forum has already morphed into placing both Imesi-Ile High School and the town itself on the global map through selective struggles,” he remarked.
The mentorship forum, since inception, has championed causes that strengthen community development, and alumni unity. Organizers reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the initiative as a platform for knowledge-sharing and societal transformation.
