Starmer Under Fire Over UK Aid Cuts to Global Health Fund

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing mounting pressure after reports surfaced that his government plans to cut the UK’s £1 billion contribution to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Aid groups warn the move could cost millions of lives and erode Britain’s global standing. Polls show 62% of Britons oppose any reduction, urging the UK to keep its commitment ahead of the fund’s replenishment summit in South Africa next month.

Critics say slashing aid during a global health crisis would betray Labour’s humanitarian legacy. “This isn’t just about money,  it’s about moral leadership,” said one former minister.
