Trump Issues Stern Ultimatum: “Move Quickly or All Bets Will Be Off”

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a sharp ultimatum to Hamas, demanding an immediate response to his Gaza peace proposal. Trump warned that if the group delays beyond the set deadline, “all bets will be off,” signaling possible renewed hostilities or diplomatic fallout.

The president made the statement on his Truth Social platform on Saturday night, asserting that he would not “tolerate hesitation” on what he described as a “once-in-a-generation peace deal.” The ultimatum adds urgency to an already tense standoff as the war in Gaza enters a critical phase.

The Peace Proposal

Trump’s plan -- which he calls the “Pathway to Stability” ,contains about 20 key points. It includes an immediate ceasefire, release of all remaining Israeli hostages, and a phased Israeli withdrawal from designated areas in Gaza. In exchange, Hamas would agree to complete disarmament and the establishment of a transitional administration supervised by international actors, including Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

He disclosed that Israel had already accepted an “initial withdrawal line,” stressing that Hamas’s acceptance would trigger a full ceasefire “within hours.” Trump set a firm deadline of 6:00 p.m. Washington D.C. time on Sunday for Hamas to respond.

 

“Hamas must move quickly, or all bets will be off,” Trump warned. “The time for talk is over, the time for peace is now.”

Hamas’s Reaction

Hamas confirmed it had received the proposal but expressed reservations about several clauses, particularly those relating to disarmament and governance. A senior Hamas spokesperson said the group was “studying the details carefully” and emphasized that “no deal will be accepted without guarantees of full sovereignty and Palestinian rights.”

The organization also accused Israel of violating the temporary truce by continuing aerial bombardments in parts of northern Gaza, an allegation Israeli officials have neither confirmed nor denied.

Confusion and Tension on the Ground

Despite Trump’s calls for restraint, Israeli airstrikes continued overnight, killing at least 70 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Israeli authorities, however, insist that operations targeted “active militant positions.”

Within Israel’s government, Trump’s plan has also exposed internal divisions. While Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has voiced conditional support for the framework, ultra-nationalist cabinet members have dismissed any talk of withdrawal as “dangerous and premature.”

Global Reactions

The Trump ultimatum has drawn mixed reactions globally.

Egypt and Qatar, both instrumental mediators in the conflict, have welcomed Trump’s proposal but urged “flexibility and trust-building.”

The European Union described the plan as “an encouraging but fragile step” toward lasting peace.

The United Nations called for all sides to “act in good faith” to prevent further humanitarian catastrophe.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration has refrained from direct endorsement but acknowledged that Trump’s efforts “reflect growing international urgency.”

What’s at Stake

Analysts say the deadline could determine the war’s next direction.

If Hamas accepts, it could lead to a sustained ceasefire and open reconstruction corridors.

If it refuses, Trump’s threat of renewed military escalation could push the region into deeper chaos.

For Gaza’s civilians, however, the

stakes remain painfully clear, survival amid ruins, waiting for a decision that could mean either peace or renewed destruction.
