Federal High Court Debunks Claim of Assassination Attempt on Justice Omotosho

The Federal High Court has dismissed reports alleging an assassination attempt on Justice James Omotosho as fake news, urging the public to disregard the circulating claims.

Earlier on Sunday, social media platforms were awash with unverified reports suggesting that Justice Omotosho had been attacked by unknown assailants shortly after delivering the judgment that sentenced Nnamdi Kanu.

In a swift reaction, the court’s spokesperson described the claims as fabricated, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary tension, stressing that no such incident occurred.

According to the statement, Justice Omotosho is safe and going about his judicial duties without any security breach. The court warned against the deliberate spread of false information targeting judicial officers, noting that such actions undermine public confidence in the justice system.

The Federal High Court further advised media practitioners and the general public to verify information before publication or sharing, especially on sensitive national matters.
