Dr. Maxwell Opara, one of the lawyers representing the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on Sunday paid a visit to his client at the Sokoto Correctional Centre.
Opara, who was accompanied by four of his legal associates, said Kanu appeared “in high spirits” despite the circumstances surrounding his incarceration. The legal team spent time briefing him on ongoing legal efforts and assessing his welfare and conditions of detention.
The visit comes amid heightened public interest in Kanu’s case following his recent conviction and transfer to Sokoto. Supporters and observers have continued to call for transparency regarding his treatment in custody.
Opara assured that the legal team remains committed to pursuing all legitimate avenues to ensure justice for the IPOB leader.
