Tinubu Receives Duke of Edinburgh at State House

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday received Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The British royal is in Nigeria for a week-long series of engagements aimed at promoting the expansion of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a global youth development programme that helps young people discover their purpose, build skills, and strengthen leadership capacity.

Prince Edward’s visit, scheduled between November 17 and 23, will feature high-level meetings and events in Lagos, where he will engage with partners supporting the award’s mission across Africa and worldwide.

Nearly 200 young participants from over 50 countries, along with global award leaders, policymakers, and youth movement representatives, are expected to attend the activities planned for the week.

The visit highlights Nigeria’s rising profile in youth development initiatives and reinforces the country’s role as a strategic hub for global programmes that empower young people.
