UN Report: Climate Disasters Displaced 250 Million People in a Decade

A new United Nations report has revealed staggering figures: 250 million people have been displaced by climate-related disasters over the last ten years, averaging 70,000 people every single day.


Floods, storms, heatwaves, droughts, and rising sea levels have forced communities from their homes, particularly in countries that contribute the least to global carbon emissions.


The UN



warns that climate migration is accelerating faster than global adaptation efforts.


The report highlights that many of the displaced come from fragile states, amplifying inequality and stressing already weak institutions.


Climate experts say the findings are a “red-alert moment” for world leaders ahead of upcoming climate negotiations.
