Wike, Yerima: Cracked Discipline in a Comedy Generation with a Borrowed Future

When institutions forget their codes, men begin to measure authority with volume, not value. The clash between Wike and Naval Officer Yerima in Abuja is no longer about command or courtesy, it’s about a nation where roles have lost rhythm, and discipline now wears a borrowed face. Once upon a time, the uniform and the office were symbols of honor; today, they are costumes in a national skit titled “Everybody Wants to Be Right.”

Ministers roar like market chiefs, officers defend ego like borders, and the people, tired yet talented, turn governance into laughter to avoid tears. The streets no longer protest with placards; they trend hashtags with memes. Our politics has become performance art, and our democracy, a tragicomedy rehearsed daily on social media timelines.


But beyond the humor lies a deeper ache: a generation living on borrowed future, speaking the language of irony because sincerity no longer pays rent. We mock our pain because we can’t mend it; we dance to chaos because silence feels like surrender. Wike and Yerima are not just two men in conflict, they are metaphors of a state at war with itself, where power meets pride, and purpose forgets patience.


So, before we laugh again, let us remember: comedy is sweet, but conscience is sacred. If this cracked discipline continues to echo through our institutions, we may soon find that even the clowns are crying, and the laughter we cherish is only the sound of a generation losing its future softly.
