Anthony Joshua Opens Up: “I Didn’t Know How Special They Were

British heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has shared a heartfelt message mourning the loss of close associates, describing them as “great men” whose value he only fully realised after their passing.

In a post shared on his social media handle, Joshua reflected on the bond he shared with them, noting that their greatness often felt ordinary in the moment because of how naturally they related as friends.

“Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers. I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men,” Joshua wrote.

The former world champion acknowledged the emotional weight of the loss, stating that while the experience has been tough for him, it is even more devastating for the parents of the deceased.

“100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents ❤️ I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers,” he added.

Joshua’s message has since drawn an outpouring of sympathy and support from fans, fellow athletes, and public figures across the world, many of whom commended him for his vulnerability and faith during a difficult moment.
