“Your Vote Is Your Power” — CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo Speaks on Poverty, Accountability, and 2027 Vision

 Former presidential aspirant and Founder of Better Nigeria for Better People, CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo, has emphasized the critical role of citizens’ votes in shaping Nigeria’s future, stressing that genuine electoral choices can significantly reduce poverty and strengthen national accountability.

According to him, democracy thrives when voters elect leaders based on trust, competence, and shared vision rather than financial inducements. He noted that when individuals sell their votes, elected officials may prioritize recovering campaign expenses instead of delivering meaningful governance. “Your vote is your voice and your power,” he implied, adding that the quality of leadership often mirrors the sincerity of the electorate’s decision.

Addressing the recurring trend of post-election litigations, Ezendigbo questioned why nearly every election cycle ends in court disputes. He argued that electoral malpractice allegations and prolonged legal battles erode public confidence and distract from governance. He called for stronger transparency, institutional integrity, and civic responsibility to reduce conflicts and reinforce the credibility of Nigeria’s democratic process.

Speaking further on his presidential ambition, Ezendigbo assured that if elected in 2027, essential workers, particularly teachers and medical professionals would not be owed salaries. 

He emphasized that national development depends on how a country values its educators and healthcare providers, describing them as pillars of social and economic progress.

He also raised concerns over government spending priorities, criticizing the use of public funds on extravagant political convoys while many teachers struggle financially. For him, responsible fiscal management should focus on improving citizens’ welfare rather than projecting political luxury.
