The Osun Amotekun Corps has raised the alarm over what it described as an alleged plot by unidentified individuals to plant ammunition at the private residence of its Corps Commander, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, in a bid to implicate him and damage the reputation of the state-owned security outfit.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Corps' Public Relations Officer, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass, the security agency said it had received intelligence suggesting that certain disgruntled individuals were allegedly planning to fabricate evidence against the Corps Commander by unlawfully planting ammunition at his residence.
According to the statement, the intelligence is being treated with utmost seriousness, although the Corps stressed that the information remains an allegation at this stage. It noted that the potential consequences for public confidence and security made it necessary to alert residents, security agencies, and the media.
The Corps reaffirmed that it has consistently discharged its constitutional responsibilities within the confines of the law, maintaining professionalism, integrity, and accountability in the protection of lives and property across Osun State.
It added that the alleged plot would not deter the Corps from carrying out its mandate or compromise its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.
The Osun Amotekun Corps called on relevant security agencies to remain vigilant, investigate the intelligence thoroughly, and take proactive measures to prevent any unlawful act capable of undermining public peace or tarnishing the image of the Corps through fabricated evidence.
The agency also appealed to residents of Osun State to disregard any misinformation or malicious propaganda that could emerge from the alleged scheme, expressing confidence that due process and lawful investigation would expose any attempt to manipulate public perception.
Reiterating its commitment to justice, transparency, and the rule of law, the Corps appreciated the continued support and trust of the people of Osun State, assuring residents that it remains steadfast in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
