Yoruba Nation Agitator Claims Operatives Mistook a Cat For Him

IBADAN, Oyo State — Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has made fresh allegations about the July 2021 raid on his Ibadan residence, claiming operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) mistakenly killed a cat after believing it was him.

According to TheCable, Igboho made the remarks on Monday while hosting a delegation of Muslim clerics at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Recounting the controversial security operation, Igboho alleged that DSS operatives also brought what he described as a "fake herbalist" to perform rituals in an attempt to locate him during the raid.

He further claimed that despite the heavy presence of security personnel surrounding his residence, he remained inside the house throughout the operation without being discovered.

The July 2021 raid on Igboho's residence remains one of Nigeria's most controversial security operations. The DSS had at the time announced the recovery of weapons from the property and declared Igboho wanted, while the Yoruba Nation activist consistently maintained that the operation was politically motivated.

Igboho's latest account adds another dimension to his longstanding narrative about the incident. However, the Department of State Services has not publicly responded to these fresh allegations as of the time of filing this report.

The claims remain those of Sunday Igboho and have not been independently verified by Oriontimes.
