Independence Day: Chief CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo Declares, ‘Nigeria Will Build Nigerians by Nigerians’

....Calls for National Renewal Through Jobs, Youths and Digital Revolution

....Recycling Plants, Youth Empowerment Can Curb Unemployment, Crime

Chief CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo, a presidential aspirant in the last general elections, has used Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary to outline his vision for the country, focusing on job creation, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, institutional development and the use of digital technology to transform education.

In an Independence Day message to OrionTimes, Ezendigbo said that, if given the opportunity to lead Nigeria, his administration would pursue practical programmes capable of creating employment and enabling Nigerians to utilise their skills and potential.

A major part of his proposed economic strategy is the development of standard plastic recycling plants across the 36 states of the federation.

According to Ezendigbo, establishing recycling facilities would not only address environmental challenges but also create employment opportunities, particularly for young Nigerians.

“To use plastic recycle will create jobs for our people. It is the responsibility of the government. The job is there. Every state must have standard recycle plants.”

He said his approach would be aimed at creating opportunities that would allow Nigerians to earn legitimate livelihoods, arguing that unemployment can contribute to social problems and criminality.

‘This Is Not the Country We Want’

Ezendigbo also identified the state of public infrastructure as an area he would seek to address through his proposed administration.

Referring to a police station in Sagamu, Ogun State, which he said is housed in a container, he questioned whether such facilities reflect the Nigeria citizens aspire to build.

“Police station in Sagamu, Ogun State, is made of container. This is not the country we want to be proud of,” he said.

He also placed tackling corruption among the priorities of his proposed leadership, stressing the importance of fairness, accountability and institutional integrity in governance.

Youth at the Centre of His Vision

Ezendigbo said Nigerian youths would occupy a central position in his proposed administration, arguing that young people already possess the knowledge, energy and capacity required to contribute to national development.

“I will allow people to use their potential. Youths are ready to build the country. I'll give them the moral support. They've the knowledge, they've the stamina,” he said.

He said his role as President would be to create the environment and opportunities through which young Nigerians could deploy their abilities rather than remain constrained by unemployment or limited opportunities.

Digital Revolution in Education

Ezendigbo also highlighted the potential of Nigeria's digital revolution to transform the education sector.

He said his proposed administration would encourage young Nigerians to use their knowledge of technology and digital innovation to drive changes in education while helping them understand and maximise their own values and capabilities.

According to him, Nigeria's future development should be driven by Nigerians themselves, particularly a generation of young people equipped with knowledge, technology and the opportunity to participate meaningfully in national development.

“Nigeria will build Nigerians by Nigerians. We'll take back our nation. Give them opportunity,” he declared.

As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence anniversary, Ezendigbo said his message was centred on building a country where citizens would have greater opportunities to work, innovate and contribute to national development.
