The association of Babalojas and Iyalojas of Osogbo/Olorunda local government areas have endorsed the State governor Senator Ademola Adeleke for second term in office.
The endorsement was made during a gathering of the market leaders at Olonkoro town hall, Igbona Osogbo on Friday, April 25th.
The association commended Adeleke’s administration for visible development, particularly in road infrastructure and market accessibility.
Chief Adeoti Qamarudeen, Babaloja of Orisunbare Main Market on behalf of the association listed over 25 completed and ongoing road projects that have improved market routes and boosted commercial activity in Osogbo and its environs.
He listed the projects which include, “the Arogunmosa Road link to Ring Road, Okebale, Costain Road to Ayepe Junction, Iso Eran and Iso Ata roads at Oja Oba, Peter Ajibola Street in Alekuwodo, DSS Road link to Ring Road, Ori Oke Pure Water Road, Oroki High School Road, BCJ Road at Ajegunle, the third phase of Ona Baba Ona, Okefia and Lameco flyovers, dualisation from Old Garage to Lameco Junction, Igbalaye Street, Sasa Road to Osun State University, Teaching Hospital Road, final phase of Ona Baba Ona from Testing Ground to Okebale, Kolawole Road to Ese Ogba, Oyin Adejobi Road to Idiomo, Abija Road to Akogun Junction, Lion Junction to Agboyele Street, Anifowose Street to Costain, Dangunro Street, Atewogba Eja Street, Sango Orioke to Asubiaro Junction, and the road from Dada Estate Junction to Hallelujah Junction, among others.
“These projects have not only improved access to our markets but have also enhanced the daily lives of traders, transporters, and buyers. Governor Adeleke has shown through action that he is committed to grassroots development,” Chief Adeoti read.
Among the projects highlighted were the Okefia and Lameco flyovers, Iso Eran and Iso Ata market roads, and the dualisation of Old Garage to Lameco Junction.
The traders noted that such investments in infrastructure had a direct impact on economic growth, particularly for small businesses and informal traders.
“We are not politicians, we are market women. But we know when a governor works. Governor Adeleke is working, and we see it every day,” he said.
He added that traders had not experienced this level of attention from any administration in recent years.
“Our markets used to be ignored. Roads were bad, drainage was terrible, and nobody came to ask how we were coping. Today, things are different. We can proudly say that the markets have a listening government.
“He is not only constructing roads but giving us the dignity we deserve. For the first time, a governor cares about our hustle. That is why we are endorsing him wholeheartedly.”
Speaking on behalf of Governor Adeleke, the Special Adviser on Market Women Affairs, Grace Eniola Omotosho, appreciated the endorsement and assured the traders that the governor remains committed to improving their welfare.
“Governor Adeleke is deeply committed to the welfare of market men and women. These endorsements are not bought, they are earned through impactful leadership. He will continue to prioritise projects that affect your daily lives,” Omotosho said.
She urged the traders to remain united and mobilise their communities in support of Adeleke’s re-election, promising that the second term would deliver even more dividends of democracy.
