OSOGBO – Governor Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday officially flagged off his re-election campaign ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, declaring that the Accord Party would remain on the ballot and expressing confidence that he would secure a second term in office. Nigeria has lost yet another bright creative mind. The body of Raji Samad Adetola, popularly known as Mr. Sanku Comedy,
was laid to rest yesterday at the Muslim Cemetery in Osogbo after a ghastly car accident along the Oyo, Ogbomoso road cut his journey short in the early hours of Monday.
For his followers and the larger skit-making community, Sanku was more than just a content creator, he was a rising voice of humor, resilience, and the promise of a new generation. His skits, like many from grassroots comedians, reflected the realities of everyday Nigerians, often bringing laughter to homes that desperately needed relief.
Yet, with his passing, we are once again reminded of a painful pattern: the brilliance of our young talents is often more loudly recognized in death than in life. It should not be so. The tragic end of Mr. Sanku calls for reflection not only on how we celebrate our creatives but also on the urgent need to prioritize safety and caution on our roads.
Nigeria cannot continue to bury her brightest in their prime. Each life lost is not just a personal tragedy but a collective setback, a story cut short, a dream denied, a future unfulfilled. Beyond mourning, let this be a call for action: better road safety awareness, stricter enforcement of traffic regulations, and a culture that values the protection of lives above all else.
Mr. Sanku may be gone, but his laughter, creativity, and impact remain. Let us honor him, and many like him, not only with tears but with changes that ensure the brilliance of others is preserved while they are still here.
