The Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) has commenced activities marking its 2025 Digital Media Week with an infrastructure inspection tour across Osogbo, aimed at assessing the state of public facilities as part of its Community Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The association, led by its Chairman, Mukhtar Ajelogbon, on Wednesday, December 3, visited the Old Garage/Oke Fia–Lameco Road, the Oke Fia Flyover, the Lameco Flyover and adjoining corridors. The team evaluated completed and ongoing projects, as well as areas requiring government attention.
Speaking during the exercise, Ajelogbon said the association chose to begin the Digital Media Week with an on-site assessment to obtain first-hand insight into infrastructural conditions across the capital.
“This visit is part of our social responsibilities to observe what the government has done and to identify areas still lacking in infrastructure,” he said.
“It is not political. It is simply a factual assessment of the current state of infrastructure in Osogbo.”
The association noted that Osogbo has witnessed visible infrastructural improvements over the past eight years, especially in road networks and major junctions, but stressed the need for sustained attention to address lingering gaps.
Reviewing their findings, the association commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for ongoing infrastructural efforts across the state, while urging the government to intensify efforts, particularly in completing the ongoing Lameco Flyover, which will further enhance mobility and add to the administration’s achievements.
Ajelogbon emphasized the neutrality of the exercise.
“The governor has made noticeable progress, and that is acknowledged. At the same time, there are other roads that need to be done. Our duty is to report both sides objectively.”
He encouraged the government to continue prioritizing road maintenance, drainage upgrades, traffic management, and community-focused infrastructure that improves daily life for residents.
Earlier, the Digital Media Week Planning Committee, led by Adesoji Omosebi, had held a press briefing where the chairman formally declared this year’s edition open, with several activities scheduled for the week.
The inspection tour marks the first activity of the OOPA Digital Media Week, which continues over the next few days with engagements and events aimed at strengthening the digital media ecosystem.
