“I Haven’t Chosen a Party Yet—Nigeria Needs a Reset, Not Another Politician” — CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo Fires Warning Ahead of 2027

 As Nigeria edges closer to the 2027 general elections, presidential aspirant, Chief CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo, has declared that his focus remains on national transformation rather than partisan alignment.

In a conversation with OrionTimes, Ezendigbo revealed that he is yet to commit to any political party, stressing that his ambition is driven by a deeper concern for Nigeria and the African continent at large.

“I have not declared which political party I am going to run on,” he stated. “My concern goes beyond politics, I am thinking about Nigeria and Africa. We have the land, we have the manpower, yet we are not developing as we should.”

Painting a grim picture of the nation’s current realities, Ezendigbo lamented the paradox of wealth without infrastructure.

“You have money, yet there are no roads, no electricity, failing schools, weak agricultural systems, and no security. Even the banking system is threatened. These are fundamental areas we must confront,” he said.

He raised alarm over the growing influence of criminal networks, particularly kidnappers and bandits, who he claims now operate with alarming financial power.

“Money is being stockpiled in forests. Who is tracking it? Who is paying taxes? Kidnappers now seem to have more liquidity than some financial institutions. They stop citizens on highways, what kind of system allows this? What is the rationale?” he queried.

According to him, fear has crippled collective resistance, leaving many citizens disillusioned and hesitant to speak out.

“Sometimes, you feel ashamed to even write about the country. People are afraid to unite and confront these challenges,” he added.

Ezendigbo also criticized Nigeria’s failure to maximize its natural resources, especially crude oil.

“We are an oil-producing nation, yet we do not truly manufacture or refine what we produce. That is a fundamental failure of governance. The responsibility of government is to manage resources effectively for the benefit of the people.”

Calling for institutional integrity, he emphasized that key actors in the system must remain neutral to safeguard democracy.

“Government officials, judges, members of the armed forces, journalists, and religious leaders must maintain neutrality in political matters. Without that, the system collapses into bias and distrust.”

He concluded with a call for urgent reform, insisting that restoring security is the gateway to economic revival.

“Investors across the world should not be afraid to come into Nigeria, but first, we must fix security. When lives and property are safe, when we produce what we consume, then we can truly rejig the economy.”

With bold rhetoric and a reform-driven tone, Ezendigbo positions himself as a candidate of systemic overhaul, one who believes Nigeria’s challenges require not just leadership, but a complete national reset.
