The Osun State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has reported an attack on its command office in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State.
According to a statement issued by the corps, suspected hoodlums allegedly stormed the Amotekun office located within the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat on Sunday and fired several gunshots at the facility.
The corps said the attack damaged glass windows and other parts of the building, although no casualty was recorded.
Speaking on the incident, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps in Irepodun Local Government alleged that the attack came after a series of threats reportedly issued by the Chairman of the APC "Yes/No" group in the local government, Mr. Adegoke Ogunsola.
The commander claimed that Mr. Ogunsola had contacted her by telephone over an alleged incident involving some Amotekun operatives on June 19, 2026, when members of the PDP/Accord local government administration were expected to resume duties at the council secretariat.
She maintained that she was present at the secretariat throughout the day and that no security breach was reported.
According to her account, Mr. Ogunsola allegedly demanded that Amotekun personnel vacate the office within the local government premises, insisting that the facility belonged to the council. She further alleged that he threatened to mobilise individuals to besiege the office and warned that any operative found there would be shot.
The commander said the alleged threat was reported to the Area Commander of Amotekun in Osogbo Federal Constituency, ACA Mustapha Fatima Nana.
She added that a few hours after the alleged threat, information reached the command that unidentified persons had attacked the office, firing gunshots at its doors and windows and causing damage to government property.
The corps disclosed that photographs of the damaged facility had been forwarded to relevant authorities as part of efforts to document the incident and facilitate investigations.
Amotekun said the matter has been reported to the Divisional Police Office in Ilobu and the Osun State Police Command Headquarters in Osogbo.
The corps called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, identify those responsible for the attack and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, law and order across Osun State despite the incident.
Efforts to obtain the reaction of Mr. Ogunsola were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
