The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has pledged to transform Ile-Ife and other parts of the state through what he described as an ambitious development agenda focused on infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, security and economic growth.
Oyebamiji made the commitment on Wednesday during the official flag-off of the APC governorship campaign in Ile-Ife, where he also paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, to seek royal blessings ahead of the election.
Addressing party supporters and traditional leaders, the APC standard-bearer said his administration would restore Osun's lost glory by prioritising critical sectors and delivering inclusive development across the state.
He assured residents of Ile-Ife that the ancient town, regarded as the cradle of the Yoruba race, would receive special attention under his administration if elected governor.
According to him, several key roads within the city, including the Enuwa–Fajuyi Junction, Aderemi–Ondo Road and Enuwa–Sabo routes, have already been identified for rehabilitation.
"We are contesting this election with a genuine commitment to reposition Osun for sustainable development. Our administration will prioritise infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, commerce, industry, youth development, women's empowerment and workers' welfare," Oyebamiji said.
The APC candidate also disclosed that his team had concluded technical work on plans to establish an independent power project aimed at improving electricity supply across the state.
He added that agriculture would receive renewed attention through the introduction of improved seedlings, enhanced support for farmers and the creation of ready markets for agricultural produce to boost food production and exports.
"We are determined to revive agriculture, improve food security and create economic opportunities for our farmers. Osun has enormous potential, and we are prepared to unlock it," he added.
Earlier, the Ooni of Ife described Oyebamiji as "an Omoluabi par excellence," praising his humility, integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.
"Asiwaju Oyebamiji is Omoluabi to the core. He is a pride and blessing to Osun. I pray that God grants him the desires of his heart," the monarch said.
The royal visit preceded the formal launch of the APC governorship campaign in Ile-Ife, where party leaders rallied support for the party's candidate ahead of the August governorship poll.
Among those who addressed party supporters were the Osun APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal; Director-General of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke; National Commissioner of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Dr. Festus Oyebade Olowogboyega; and other party stakeholders.
They urged eligible voters across the state to support Oyebamiji at the polls, expressing confidence that the APC would emerge victorious in the forthcoming election.
The campaign attracted a large turnout of party faithful and supporters, who welcomed the APC candidate with colourful displays and enthusiastic participation at both the Ooni's Palace and the campaign venue.
