The Osun State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps has deployed tactical operatives to strategic locations in Osogbo following recent cult-related attacks that heightened tension in parts of the state capital, assuring residents that every necessary measure is being taken to restore peace and guarantee public safety.
The Corps Commander, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, made the disclosure while addressing journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, stating that security personnel had been mobilised to affected communities and other vulnerable areas to prevent further violence and reassure residents.
According to him, the attacks recorded on Tuesday night in the Egbatedo area and in the early hours of Wednesday at Idi-Seke were unfortunate and unacceptable, describing them as criminal acts capable of undermining the peaceful atmosphere Osun State has enjoyed over the years.
Omoyele condemned the activities of cult groups and other criminal elements allegedly behind the attacks, warning that the state would not become a sanctuary for hoodlums seeking to disrupt public peace.
"The Osun Amotekun Corps will not fold its arms while criminal elements threaten the lives of innocent citizens or destroy their hard-earned property. We are fully committed to protecting every law-abiding resident of Osun State, and anyone found culpable of instigating violence or engaging in criminal activities will be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law," he said.
The Corps Commander disclosed that tactical teams have been strategically deployed across the affected areas and other flashpoints to maintain law and order, strengthen surveillance, and prevent any recurrence of violence.
He further stated that the Amotekun Corps is collaborating closely with other security agencies through intelligence sharing and coordinated operations aimed at identifying, arresting and prosecuting those responsible for the attacks.
Appealing to residents to remain calm, Omoyele urged members of the public to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could aid ongoing operations, stressing that community participation remains crucial in combating crime.
He reassured residents that the state's security architecture remains robust, noting that Amotekun operatives would continue to intensify patrols, surveillance and rapid-response operations across Osun.
The Corps Commander reiterated that the protection of lives and property remains the agency's foremost responsibility, assuring citizens that adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard communities and preserve the peace across the state.
