Ede Muslim Council Backs Adeleke's Re-Election Bid, Urges Peace Ahead of Osun Governorship Poll

The Ede Muslim Council has formally endorsed the re-election of Osun State Governor, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, for a second term, citing his administration's record in governance, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and promotion of religious harmony.

The endorsement was announced following the Council's General Assembly held at the Ede Central Mosque on Thursday, July 14, 2026, where members unanimously resolved to support the governor's bid in the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council, Engr. Dr. Musibaudeen Idris, on behalf of the executive body, the Muslim organization said its decision followed a comprehensive assessment of Governor Adeleke's performance since assuming office.

According to the Council, the administration's achievements and commitment to inclusive governance have convinced members that continuity would further strengthen peace, development, and socio-economic progress across Osun State.

Consequently, the Council called on Muslims throughout Edeland to turn out in large numbers to vote for Governor Adeleke during the forthcoming governorship election.

It also offered prayers for the governor's success at the polls, expressing hope that his administration would continue to deliver people-oriented policies and sustainable development across the state.

Beyond its political endorsement, the Council appealed to all residents of Osun State, regardless of political affiliation, to uphold peace, maintain law and order, and shun violence before, during, and after the election.

The Council emphasized that peaceful conduct by political actors, supporters, and the electorate remains essential to preserving the state's democratic values and ensuring a credible electoral process.

It concluded by praying for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in Osun State and Nigeria.
