Preparations for the 2026 Osun Diaspora Homecoming and Engagement Summit have continued to gather momentum, with Chief Mrs. Christianah Olusola Abatan, also known as IYALAJE1 WORLDWIDE, playing a prominent role in the summit's leadership structure.

A summit document obtained by Oriontimes identifies Chief Mrs. Abatan as the Zonal Coordinator for Europe and Canada, placing her among the key officials responsible for coordinating activities and mobilising participation from Osun indigenes across the two regions.

The leadership list also names Dr. Otunba Yemisi Kolawole Oladeji, Chief Executive Officer of Plano Technologies USA, as the General Coordinator, while Alhaji Mudashiru Olaboye serves as Deputy General Coordinator. Other members include Alhaji Saheed Adeyeye, Zonal Coordinator for ECOWAS, and Mrs. Toyin Adelowokan, Internal Diaspora Coordinator.

The summit is expected to bring together Osun indigenes from across the world for a four-day programme in August 2026, focusing on strengthening ties between the Diaspora and the state through investment, cultural exchange, networking and development partnerships.

Organisers have also announced plans for participants to inspect ongoing developmental projects, engage with government officials on the state's development agenda and discuss opportunities for greater diaspora participation in governance and economic growth.

One of the major issues expected to feature prominently during the summit is the campaign for Diaspora Voting Rights, as organisers seek to promote broader democratic participation for Nigerians living abroad.

With Chief Mrs. Christianah Olusola Abatan serving as Zonal Coordinator for Europe and Canada, organisers say they are intensifying mobilisation efforts to ensure strong participation from Osun indigenes across Europe and North America, reinforcing the summit's objective of connecting the global Osun community with the state's future development.
