The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District, Barrister Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, SAN, popularly known as K-RAD, and the party’s candidate for Ifelodun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Dr. Mulikat Jimoh, have pledged to take the infrastructure challenges confronting communities along the Ikirun–Ogbomoso corridor to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The commitment was made during a consultation visit to Eko-Ende, where K-RAD, accompanied by the Elende of Eko-Ende, Oba Abdulwaheed Babatunde Adekunle, inspected an abandoned bridge linking communities in Osun and Oyo States.
The bridge, initiated during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan and awarded to MM & IF Construction Company, was intended to improve transportation and facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, goods and services between communities along the corridor.
However, the continued abandonment of the project has, according to residents and community leaders, compounded transportation difficulties and affected economic activities along the route.
The affected communities include Eko-Ende, Ore, Ilie, Iregba and Iresa, among others.
Speaking during the inspection, Oba Adekunle appealed to K-RAD to use his relationship with the Federal Government to draw the attention of President Tinubu to the abandoned bridge and the condition of the connecting road.
The monarch described the infrastructure as important to the economic activities of communities in the area.
“The bridge and road are critical to our economic survival, and giving them the required attention will have a significant impact on our livelihoods,” the monarch said.
Oba Adekunle also said communities in the area were supporting President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, expressing confidence that the President would consider their request.
“We do not have any other candidate than our amiable President, our son and father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We believe he will listen to our brother, Kunle Rasheed Adegoke SAN, and approve this project even before next year,” the monarch said.
Responding, K-RAD assured the communities that he would present their concerns to the President and seek Federal Government intervention.
“We will do the needful as soon as possible,” he said.
K-RAD also commended the Tinubu administration for what he described as ongoing infrastructure initiatives across Osun State, expressing optimism that the Federal Government would consider the strategic importance of the abandoned project.
“The President will recognize the strategic and historical importance of this project, and I am confident he will accede to our request,” he added.
The Ikirun–Ogbomoso Road is an important inter-state route connecting communities and agricultural settlements in Osun and Oyo States. The corridor facilitates the movement of people, farm produce and other goods between the two states.
The latest appeal comes amid renewed calls from communities along the route for government intervention to rehabilitate the road and complete the abandoned bridge.
