OSOGBO — The Osun State Government has dismissed allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that Governor Ademola Adeleke is victimising local government workers on account of their political affiliations, describing the claims as another example of what it called the opposition party’s “fake news.”
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the administration was not engaged in any form of political witch-hunt against civil servants.
Rasheed said Governor Adeleke had, following the August 15 governorship election, declared that there was “no winner, no vanquished,” and subsequently extended what he described as an olive branch to political opponents across the state.
According to him, the governor also announced his forgiveness of those who had offended or persecuted him and called on political actors to work together towards building a more prosperous Osun State.
He said the administration had taken steps to translate the reconciliation message into action, including the establishment of an electoral violence compensation fund and two other panels aimed at addressing the root causes of political violence in the state.
“The allegation of witch-hunt by the Osun APC is therefore a figment of the opposition’s imagination,” Rasheed said.
He maintained that local government workers remained protected by public service rules and regulations, adding that the government was committed to protecting the rights of workers within the framework of the law and established service regulations.
Rasheed, however, urged public servants to comply with the rules governing the civil service, stressing that adherence to regulations was necessary for discipline, orderliness and effective service delivery.
“The governor and all agencies of government are committed to protection of the rights of all workers within the ambit of the law and public service regulations,” he said.
The statement is consistent with previous public responses from the governor’s spokesperson in which he has accused the Osun APC of spreading what the government described as misinformation, while the APC has continued to raise allegations concerning the administration and local government affairs.
