The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has alerted Nigerians to a fraudulent website circulating online and falsely claiming that the Commission has announced a new nationwide online voter registration exercise.
In a public notice, INEC said the fake platform was claiming that online voter registration would run from September 28 to October 27, 2026.
The Commission categorically stated that the website has no affiliation whatsoever with INEC and urged members of the public not to click on the link or submit any personal information through the platform.

According to INEC, engaging with the fraudulent website could expose unsuspecting members of the public to the risk of having their sensitive personal information harvested or misused.
The electoral body further clarified that the voter registration exercise officially closed on July 26, 2026, dismissing claims that a new nationwide online registration exercise is currently being conducted through the circulating website.
INEC therefore urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify electoral information through its official communication channels before acting on any registration-related announcement.
For enquiries, members of the public can contact INEC through its Call Centre on 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) or its short code 4632.
The Commission can also be reached on 090844444333 and 09050858629, or via email at iccc@inec.gov.ng.
INEC's official website is www.inecnigeria.org, while electoral news and updates are available through www.inecnews.com.
The Commission reiterated its warning that the fraudulent website should be completely disregarded, advising Nigerians to rely only on information released through INEC's verified and official communication channels.
