The Accord Party candidate for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency urges constituents to reject inducements for oath-taking as he pledges support for community development.

IPETU-IJESA, Osun State — Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Accord Party's candidate for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, has donated ₦20 million to support community development in Ipetu-Ijesa while cautioning residents against accepting money to swear oaths at traditional shrines for political purposes.

Olajengbesi made the remarks while addressing supporters in the town at about 9 p.m., according to a statement issued on Sunday, October 11, by Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo, spokesperson for the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organisation.

During the gathering, the lawyer warned constituents against allowing politicians to persuade them to participate in shrine-based oath-taking in exchange for ₦20,000.

He argued that political leadership should be founded on trust, accountability and genuine service rather than financial inducements or practices intended to secure political loyalty.

₦20m Donation for Community Development

The campaign organisation said Olajengbesi donated ₦20 million to support development efforts in Ipetu-Ijesa.

Addressing the gathering, he reportedly described himself as part of the community and reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives aimed at improving residents' welfare.

He also maintained that his contributions to community development predated his decision to contest for elective office, presenting his involvement as a continuation of his previous engagement with the area.

However, the campaign statement did not provide further details on the specific projects to be funded with the ₦20 million or the arrangements for disbursing the money.

Commends Supporters, Speaks on Osun Politics

Olajengbesi also commended residents and political stakeholders across Ijesa North, particularly in Ipetu-Ijesa, for their support during his emergence as the Accord Party's candidate for the federal constituency.

He praised party leaders, mobilisers and other stakeholders for their contributions to his political journey.

The candidate further commended the community for its reported support for Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration and the Accord Party during the last election.

He alleged that the political support was sustained despite intimidation from opposition forces, although the statement did not provide specific details to substantiate the allegation.

Olajengbesi's latest engagement comes as political activities gradually build ahead of the 2027 general elections, with candidates and political parties seeking to strengthen their grassroots connections across Osun State.

The ₦20 million donation and his comments on political oath-taking place community development and the conduct of political mobilisation at the centre of his engagement with residents.

OrionTimes could not independently verify the donation, the circumstances surrounding the alleged shrine oath-taking or the claims of political intimidation as of the time of publication.
