  On this Democracy Day, I had intended to rest my pen. I wanted to leave the fate written on the walls of history to speak for itself. I thought perhaps the sacrifices of those who fought for democracy were enough testimony. Yet, in the final hour, a thought stirred within me, compelling me to write a message to all of us who have come together to form this sovereign nation called Nigeria. My message is particularly for those who believe that the business of Nigeria lies in the hands of a powerful few. Perhaps they are influenced by what the German sociologist Robert Michels described as the "Iron Law of Oligarchy" ,the tendency for power to concentrate in the hands of a small elite. Attack on Hallelujah Ruler: Governor Adeleke Reads Riot Act, Orders Security Clampdown on Arsonists and Thugs

Governor Ademola Adeleke has issued stern warning to youth groups behind recent attacks on the Ajeniju of Hallelujah, Oba Jelil Olaiya and the burning of his palace, directing security agencies to fish out those behind the dastardly acts. The Governor who frowned at resorting to self help by some elements within the Ido Osun community said he has directed the Commissioner of Police to secure the troubled areas and arrest the ringleaders of the violent actions. The Governor who has spoken with the Ajeniju of Hallelujah who is presently recuperating from the attacks, also further directed the Olojudo of Ido Osun, Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola to call his rampaging youth to order amidst ongoing law enforcement. According to the Governor, resorting to violence to resolve communal disputes is unacceptable and those found wanting will face the full wrath of the law. “Aside from law enforcement, I have further directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Dosu Babatunde to commence immediate peace-building and conflict de-escalation in collaboration with the security agencies. “Any community with grievances is free to approach relevant government agencies to table such for conflict resolution. We will not tolerate violence under whatever guise”, the Governor warned.

Assassination Attempt: Police can’t deny what’s on their desk, says Amotekun boss

  The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps , High Chief Dr Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele , who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital following an attempted assassination on his life on Monday, has strongly refuted the claims made by the Osun State Police Spokeperson regarding the incident.
