Ilare-Ijesa in Peril: Rep. Oke Seeks Federal Rescue on Erosion, Roads

The lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. (Dr.) Busayo Oluwole Oke, has formally written to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator (Dr.) George Akume, to seek urgent inclusion of Ilare-Ijesa in the Ecological Fund intervention programme. The request centers on critical erosion control and internal road rehabilitation projects facilitated by his former aide, Pastor Olu-Kehinde Oyedeji.


Hon. Oluwole Oke, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), lauded Pastor Oyedeji for his selfless service and unwavering commitment to the development of his hometown. The commendation came during a strategic meeting held in the lawmaker’s office at the National Assembly on Monday, June 17, 2025. In attendance were key constituents including Pastor Olu-Kehinde Oyedeji, Hon. Kehinde Oluwasesan Agala from Obokun Local Government, and Mr. Olaniyi Ojelabi from Oriade Local Government.



It will be recalled that a technical team from the Ecological Project Office in Abuja visited Ilare-Ijesa three weeks ago to conduct a reconnaissance survey of erosion-prone areas in the ancient town. The visit, solely facilitated and sponsored by Pastor Oyedeji, was supported by indigenes both at home and in the diaspora.



Hon. Oluwole Oke emphasized that the letter to the SGF is part of a broader push to secure federal attention for communities in his constituency. He pledged to vigorously pursue the approval of the Ilare-Ijesa erosion and road project and reiterated his commitment to the socio-economic advancement of Ijesa North Federal Constituency.


The lawmaker further praised Pastor Oyedeji for initiating such a laudable intervention, describing it as a reflection of deep love and genuine concern for the well-being of his people. He called on constituents to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the APC to ensure more dividends of democracy reach the grassroots.
