Facebook Reportedly Deletes Page of Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo Over ‘National Security’ Concerns

The social media page of Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a prominent Plateau-based cleric and outspoken advocate on insecurity in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, has reportedly been taken down by Facebook over alleged “national security” concerns.


The development was first disclosed by an associate of the pastor, who said Rev. Dachomo confirmed to him that his Facebook and other social media handles had been removed. According to the associate, the cleric was informed that his posts were deemed to “jeopardize national security.” Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has not issued any official statement regarding the removal.


Rev. Dachomo has in recent months gained national attention for his frequent commentary on alleged killings and displacement of Christian communities in Plateau and Benue States. His videos and public statements often attract strong reactions from supporters and critics alike.


In a separate reaction to ongoing threats against his life, the pastor reportedly stated that he “has already sold his soul to Jesus Christ” and would continue to speak out, insisting that “to die is gain.” His comments came amid growing tensions surrounding violence in the region.


Security concerns around the pastor have escalated in recent weeks. The Nigerian Army’s 3rd Division had earlier pledged to provide protection after reports emerged that unidentified individuals were allegedly planning attacks on him. However, a group identified as “Plateau Fulani Like-Minds” publicly denied involvement in any plot, describing the rumours as “hilarious” and urging the cleric to publish the alleged threat messages.


The controversy has deepened public debate on freedom of expression, digital rights, and the responsibilities of social media platforms in conflict-sensitive environments. It also raises questions about how far online platforms should go in moderating content linked to national security tensions.



As of press time, Rev. Dachomo’s Facebook page remains inaccessible, and attempts to verify whether the removal was temporary, algorithm-driven, or manually enforced have not yielded official confirmation from Meta.
