 U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Nigeria, raising the prospect of American troops or air strikes if attacks on Christians in the country do not cease.


In remarks made aboard Air Force One, Trump accused Nigerian authorities of failing to curb what he described as the mass killing of Christians, saying the United States would not hesitate to act.


“They’re killing the Christians and killing them in very large numbers. We’re not going to allow that to happen… Could be,” Trump said, when asked whether ground operations or air strikes were being considered.




Trump reportedly directed defense officials to prepare contingency options, signaling that Washington may adopt a more aggressive stance toward Nigeria’s internal security situation.


While Trump’s statements have sparked intense global debate, Nigerian authorities have consistently rejected claims of state-enabled religious killings, insisting that insecurity — including terrorism, banditry, and communal clashes — is driven by criminal and extremist elements, not faith-targeted violence.
