Students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) have staged a protest following the death of their colleague, Miss Grace Osunlakin, calling for improvements in healthcare facilities across the institution.
The students expressed concerns over what they described as inadequate medical services on campus, alleging that the absence of sufficient medical personnel and essential healthcare equipment contributed to the tragic incident.
It would be recalled that the university management announced the indefinite closure of its College of Law, Ifetedo Campus, following the death of the 400-level Criminology and Security Studies student.
In videos circulating on social media, students were seen mourning and protesting while demanding better medical infrastructure and emergency response services within the university.
Some of the protesters also alleged that there have been previous cases of student deaths linked to inadequate healthcare facilities, urging both the university management and the Osun State Government to strengthen medical services across the institution's campuses.
The students called on the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke and the university authorities to prioritise students' welfare by investing in healthcare infrastructure and ensuring access to quality emergency medical care.
