Osun Muslim Council Hails Adeleke’s Re-election, Urges Justice, Good Governance in Second Term

…Commends Osun Voters, Muslim Ummah for Peaceful Participation in August 15 Poll


OSOGBO, OSUN STATE — The Osun State Chapter of the Council of Imams and Khutobba’u of Nigeria has congratulated Governor Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke on his re-election, describing the victory as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his administration by the people of the state.


In a congratulatory statement signed by its Chairman, Al-Imam Tajudeen Badmus Atunbi, and Secretary, Al-Imam Tirimidhi Adekunle Muritador, JP, the council also commended the people of Osun State, particularly the Muslim Ummah, for their peaceful conduct, impressive participation and commitment to the democratic process during the August 15, 2026 governorship election.


The council described Adeleke’s victory as a manifestation of Allah’s decree and an indication of the trust the electorate has placed in his leadership, sincerity and the people-oriented policies of the Imole administration over the past four years.


While congratulating the governor, the Islamic body urged him to make justice, equity and service to humanity the guiding principles of his second term, citing the injunction in Qur’an 4:58 on the importance of upholding justice and fairness.


The council specifically called on the governor to sustain good governance in critical sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare and workers’ welfare, while ensuring that the benefits of government reach communities across the state.


It also urged the administration to continue promoting religious harmony and inclusiveness, stressing the importance of carrying religious leaders and other stakeholders along in matters concerning the development and peaceful coexistence of the state.


The council further appealed to the governor to prioritise youth empowerment and job opportunities, describing these as essential to strengthening peace, security and prosperity across Osun.


The Muslim clerics pledged their continued prayers and support for the success of the Adeleke administration, praying that Almighty Allah grants the governor wisdom, sound health, protection and barakah as he begins his second term.


According to the council, the ultimate expectation is for “Imole Osun” to shine brighter and deliver greater benefits to all residents irrespective of religious or ethnic background.


The Council of Imams and Khutobba’u also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring a peaceful electoral process.


The council, in conclusion, congratulated Governor Adeleke and the people of Osun State, expressing the hope that the governor’s second term would usher in greater mercy, progress, unity and development across the state.
